I thought I would start my blog off with a little throwback to mine and my boyfriend’s first holiday together (and also the first trip i’d been on without family!). We decide to book a little getaway to celebrate my 21st birthday.

I picked the destination and left my boyfriend in charge of picking the flights and hotel, as I wasn’t very clued up back then on booking trips, oh how times have changed! We visited in March, and although the weather was pretty rubbish (it rained basically the whole time we were there), it was nice to experience the city at a time when there were less tourists about. I remember getting the bus and it being full of school children, and feeling like a local.

The best way to take in the city, and it’s views, is to go on a walk along the city walls. The views were stunning and it was a great way to capture the charm of the city. The walk takes around 2 hours, depending on how often you stop to take pictures! We were able to just walk up and buy a ticket, but I would recommend booking ahead if you plan on going in peak season as it’s a very popular attraction.

The quaint old town is full of small alleyways, filled with cute shops and cafes, it’s almost like a maze and you can definitely get lost wondering around the centre. We stumbled across the Christmas shop, which is open all year round. They sell amazing handmade decorations, and the shop looks beautiful, it is definitely worth a browse and is a great place to buy some souvenirs. A must see for Christmas lovers!
